With a surrendered heart to the Lord there is a grace of obedience. Think of some of the best relationships you see between a child and a parent. Those relationships most likely represented a mutual love, honor, respect. The parent eager to bless the child with gifts of blessings, love and correction. The child eager to please the parent with heartfelt obedience and longing to honor their parent. God in His mercy gave us His Son Jesus Christ to redeem our lost world. We in return have the honor to enter into His eternal family and enjoy close fellowship/relationship with Him as our Father. Obedience is not easy at times. It can be costly and its often contradicts our willingness to surrender. As humans we want to run our lives and at times we think that we know what is best. But the God of the Universe is the only One who is all knowing. Deuteronomy 29:29 NLT “The Lord our God has secrets known to no one. We are not accountable for them, but we and our children are accountable forever for all that He has revealed to us, so that we may obey the terms of these instructions.” Knowing that He knows all should give us the assurance that following His will is the best for us and to bless us according to  Jeremiah 29:11. Obedience offers provision and protection from our Lord and the wondrous gift of a close relationship with our Heavenly Father. In Disobedience we do create a separation between God and ourselves, He desires us to obey Him. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself,” Luke 10:27. When we break covenant with God in our disobedience we create a separation between He and us HOWEVER let me be clear the Lord is never away from us. Once the Holy Spirit resides in you the Lord is always with you. What happens in disobedience is a division in our intimacy with the Lord. When the Israelites disobeyed the Lord and decided to do what they thought was best, they first wandered in their heart, mind and souls then wandered physically on their journey to the promise land. The Lord knew they would waver and offered them the opportunity to repent from their ways and return to the sovereignty and protection of the Lord. Deuteronomy 30:1-6 “In the future, when you experience all these blessings and curses (explained in Deuteronomy 28) I have listed for you, and when you are living among the nations to which the Lord your God has exiled you, take heart all these instructions. If at that time you and your children returns to the Lord your God, and if you obey with all your heart and all your soul all the commands I have given you today. Then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes. He will have mercy on you and gather you back from all the nations where He scattered you. Even though you are banished to the ends of the earth, the Lord your God will gather you from there and bring you back again. The Lord your God will return you to the land that belonged to your ancestors, and you will possess the land again. Then He will make you even more prosperous and numerous than your ancestors. The Lord you God will change your heart and the hearts of all your descendants, so that you will love Him with all your heart and soul so that you may live!” What an incredible promise and redemption for us when we stray from the Lord in sin. He is forgiving and ready to restore when we come to Him with a heart in need of repentance and humility. We can not live a prosperous, Godly life without constant fellowship, repentance and obedience to the Lord. It is the deception of our human hearts to believe that we do not need to repent. We are in need of our forgiving Father when we sin against Him. The Lord forgives, let me say that again, The Lord forgives return to Him. It doesn’t matter where you are at in your wandering. He is ready with His open arms and heart to receive you forgive you when you offer your repentant heart. I hope you understand the priceless value of doing what is right! Lord, we come to you with hearts in need of repentance. Would you forgives us for wandering from You and trying to go our own way. We need you Lord with each and every thought and choice we make. Help us Lord, by softening our hearts and changing us to crave righteousness and not sin. We desire to follow you Lord, but we know we can not make it without you. We humbly submit to your Lordship and we are honored to love you with our lives in obedience to your Will and glorious love you have for us. Empower us with your Holy Spirit to do what is right. In Jesus name thank you Father for You, Your son Jesus and The Holy Spirit. Thank you for rescuing us amen.
